It’s messy, this Tomatina festival. Not the one being celebrated at Flamenco! . . . the Studio on Saturday, August 22, but rather the traditional version celebrated in Spain, which involves the throwing of tomatoes at revelers who attend. Flamenco! has re-imagined the festival’s traditions by hosting a cook-off at which attendees will toss tomatoes not at one another but rather into a Cuisinart. The La Tomatina Gazpacho Cook-off will be judged by chefs from Havana Café, NoRTH, and Avalon restaurants, with the winner taking away $50 and, presumably, a lot of leftover gazpacho. But even those who don’t take home a prize will get to enjoy live flamenco music, dancing, and a traditional tapas menu.

Reservations are required, as are registrations from those hoping to take home the “Best Gazpacho” prize.
