If you’ve ever driven over Tempe Town Lake, you’ve probably entertained the thought of jumping in for a swim. But after eyeing the oddly colored manmade body of water, it’s possible you ditched the idea for fear of growing a third arm.

As it turns out, the lake is totally safe for swimmers, and the Ironcare Splash & Dash is a prime opportunity to dive in. This 750- or 1500-meter swim followed by a 5K run usually draws around 200 participants, from the best multi-sport athletes in the state to total noobs.
