Put away the ballet slippers and tap shoes because this isn’t your average dance performance. Contemporary Japanese performance duo Eiko & Koma are taking their acclaimed elemental choreography from New York to Arizona with Regeneration, a three-part retrospective of some of their most notable works. This performance will showcase four decades worth of innovative movement with signature works including Raven, Night Tide, and White Dance. Eiko and Koma’s bold theatrical gestures and ability to manipulate stillness, shape, light, and sound, have won them two Bessies, a Guggenheim, a MacArthur genius grant, a United States Artists Fellowship, a Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award, and a Dance Magazine Award.
Eiko and Koma present Regeneration at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at ASU Gammage Auditorium, 1200 South Forest Avenue in Tempe. Tickets are $25. For more information and to purchase admission, visit www.asugammage.com or call the box office at 480-965-3434.
