The season for vintage festivals is upon us, and if you’re in the market for an interesting piece of furniture, jewelry, picture frame, delicious baked goods and jams-or just about anything you could possibly think of-you’ll definitely want to check out The Big Heap Vintage and Handmade Festival this weekend.

Describing itself as “three big days of the best vintage, modern, industrial, and hand-wrought goods in all the land,” the festival takes place at 38410 N. School House Rd. in Cave Creek this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The sheer volume of vendors and artists who will be there suggests it will be well worth the trek up north.

Sculptor Aaron Voigt will be constructing one of his robots onsite throughout the weekend as part of the festival’s “Pay it Artward,” with proceeds going to an artist so they can create a future art piece in a public space.
Tickets are on sale to win his creation at $1 each, and the drawing will take place Sunday at 3 p.m., but you don’t have to be present to win.
The Willy Nilly Band will be performing on Saturday at 11 a.m, and best-selling author Mary Emmerling will be at the festival signing two of her books, ‘The Art of the Skull’ and ‘The Art of the Heart’.
Tickets are $5, and kids under 12 are FREE. Friday and Saturday the event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
