Since there’s really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe. This week: The Blackberry Mojito at La Bocca Urban Pizzeria and Wine Bar
Whoever says classy cocktails don’t happen on Mill Avenue can grab a bar stool at La Bocca Urban Pizzeria and Wine bar and prepare to eat drink your words.
The Tempe spot’s hand-crafted drink list does us a favor by limiting our options to six seasonal favorites, including margaritas, martinis, and of course, the summertime staple, mmm-mojitos.
With a choice of adding freshly muddled fruit to the mix, we opted for the simple seduction of plumply ripened blackberries.

Ingredients:
1 1/4 oz. Meyers Platinum White Rum
1 oz. sweet & sour
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1/2 of a fresh lime
fresh mint leaves
3 juicy blackberries
In a glass, muddle fresh mint, lime and blackberries, grinding hard enough to release the natural oil from mint leaves and fuse fruit flavors. Add in rum, simple syrup, and sweet & sour. Then topple into shaker in order to shake shake shake it all up.
Strain over fresh ice into a rocks class and granish with a few mint sprigs and a lime wheel, and you’ll wish eating your words was always this delicious.
