One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action, and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?
Jon Hanford does not claim to be the mastermind behind the literal interpretation of a “cat scan”– he doesn’t even own a cat.
But the New York-based cinematographer does recognize the bottomless appetite for all-things feline (yes, including Phoenix-based cat furniture, cat hair jewelry, and blogs for “cattoos” and cat patios by Moderncat’s Kate Benjamin).
After seeing a few photos of scanned cat paws and butts on blogs and online albums, he crowned himself curator.

The result is The Cat Scan, a visual collection of — you guessed it — cats on scanners from around the world.
Hanford writes that he scours the net for the latest scans, but also accepts submissions: “Got a cat? Got a scanner? The choice is clear.”
