It’s not as if Robin Williams retired from standup once Hollywood came a-calling – unlike, say, Eddie Murphy – but the Actor Previously Known as Mork certainly seemed to disappear from the live stage after his juggernaut runs through’70s and ’80s Hollywood translated to Academy Award-caliber fame. Sure, Williams popped back up for 2002’s Live on Broadway trek and corresponding CD/DVD, but his current continuation of 2008’s highly personal Weapons of Self-Destruction theater run finds the manic impressionist as sharp and versatile as ever.
The Juilliard-trained actor/four-time Grammy winner/veritable force of nature unleashes his lightning-quick and occasionally head-scratchingly absurd free-association assaults at Dodge Theatre.
