Being a relatively young city with a relatively massive inferiority complex, Phoenix and its inhabitants seem to always be wondering: What should this place actually look like and how to we make that happen? Turns out, those questions aren’t unique. With an eye on New York and Melbourne, documentary The Human Scale explores how architects have transformed metropolitan centers, such as Times Square, into livable, walkable, usable spaces designed around what city dwellers want and need.
No Festival Required presents a 7:30 p.m. screening of the documentary at SMoCA Lounge, 7373 East Second Street, on Thursday, January 15. Tickets are $7 and available at SMoCA’s front desk and by calling 480-874-4666. Visit nofestivalrequired.wordpress.com.
