Twenty-three years ago, our then-girlfriend Robin tried to rent us an apartment, but the spritzhead manager quoted company rules: “We don’t rent one-bedrooms to same-sex roommates.” Pissed, we kicked over the flowerpot outside the door.

Marching and chanting for peace and diversity isn’t always easy, but for two delectable days, GLBTs, Straights, and Curious Bystanders alike will stroll the Victorian burg that is Heritage Square Park, 115 North Sixth Street. Cooler weather, music and dancing, food, drink, unremitting love, and thou.

On a related note, this year’s Fest also marks the return of Aunt Rita’s Foundation’s AIDS Walk after a five-year absence. See www.aidswalk2008.org.
