For a young, hard-working couple, home is the place to escape from the world. Rachel and Jim Malloy, creators of Bunky Boutique have found that being entrepreneurs is not for the faint-hearted. It takes long hours and a ton of commitment. So when they do find themselves at home together, it’s all about comfort.
“Home is the place where my husband and I connect with each other and discuss our days and our lives,” says Rachel. “Since we both work so much, our home is the place for simply being together.”

Rachel and Jim find that having a place that’s simple with clean lines (that are also easy to clean) is optimal and allows them catch up on their non-work-related lives.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
“My home is where I can watch my TiVo, HBO and HGTV shows, catch up on magazines, eat yogurt out of the carton and cereal out of the box,” says Rachel.
Besides being a lounge pad where comfort and quality time are first priority, their home is showcase for a ton of great local artwork; paintings and photographs by Phoenix artists cover their walls. Supporting local artists has become really important for the Malloys and they understand that forking up the dough now and then to help keep the scene afloat is essential.
“We know that what keeps the scene vibrant and moving forward is opening your wallet and keeping these brilliant people employed as artists,” says Rachel. “And it makes our place look a little cooler.”
