Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Since there’s really no better accessory than a cocktail in your hand, each week brings you a tasty adult beverage from one of our favorite drinking establishments, complete with recipe.
This week: The No. 1 at Windsor
Attention Valley Alts: Phoenix just got cooler.
Thanks to Craig DeMarco‘s newest restaurant endeavor, Windsor, your summer anxiety that’s been building by the thermometer degree can subside.
The new uber cool hangout is sure to quench your thirst for excitement, with hip clientele, retro décor and a cocktail list that’s progressive enough to forget the cheesy names and just use numbers.
The No.1 is easily our number one, literally tasting like you’re biting into a ripe watermelon– without the mess, and with some booze, of course.
(recipe after the jump.)
Ingredients:
2 oz. watermelon puree
1 1/2 oz. Tito’s Handmade Vodka
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 oz. vanilla mint simple syrup
In a shaker combine all ingredients and strain over new ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a watermelon ball and sprig of mint. Because biting into an actual slice of watermelon to cool you down is like, so totally mainstream.
