Welcome to the Morning Buzz,
a catch-up on interesting happenings around the city and country and a
quick guide to what (and who) to keep your eyes on. We’ll be here, first
thing every weekday, to get you going. Here’s what’s buzzing this
morning:

1. The State of Sustainability in Metro Phoenix
Tonight, Andrew Ross, author of “Bird on Fire:
Lessons from the World’s Least Sustainable City” and a panel of local experts will talk about the current state of sustainability in Phoenix as well as their ideas for the future.

Ross will be joined by Steve Betts, former president/CEO of SunCor
Development and current Arizona District Council Chair of the Urban Land
Institute, George Brooks, sustainability consultant and publisher of
NxT Horizon Magazine, Terry Goddard, former Phoenix mayor and former
Arizona attorney general, Taz Loomans, architect and writer/blogger on
sustainability issues, Eva Olivas, executive director, Phoenix
Revitalization Corporation, and Silvia Urrutia, director of Housing and
Healthcare Finance, Raza Development Fund. The discussion will e a
public form at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, 415 East Grant Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. More info here.

2. Golden Globe .gifs

Even better than watching our Hollywood stars on camera is to catch their real reactions when a few (hundred) photos are stitched together. Bless the cocktails at the Golden Globes. Check out the collection here.

3. Linotype: The Film

Coming this February, Linotype: The Film is a feature-length (drool-worthy) documentary that tells the story of the machine that revolutionized printing.  Stay tuned to the film’s website for upcoming screenings.
