Downtown Phoenix gallery theSPACE announced it will shutters its doors after one final shindig this Friday, August 19.

The music and art venue’s co-owners, Jim Coletti and Adam Smith, were bought out of their lease by Xavier College Prep, which sits adjacent to the art space. After demolishing the building, the school plans to turn the land into a parking lot.

Although he doesn’t have much of a Plan B, Coletti promises that this isn’t the last we’ve heard of theSPACE.

“We know we’re going to find a new space for it soon,” Colletti says. “We’re going to turn to the arts and theater community to see if we can use their spaces in the time being.”

theSPACE hosts its final show “Vibration” on Friday at 7 p.m. Artists showing their work include Sherab Kandro, Anthony Hurd, and gallery co-founder Adam Smith, who will also perform live music.
