$10,000

You use the words “decanting” and “aerating” without reservation. You keep a stack of Wine Enthusiast magazines by the toilet. Sadly, your younger family members refer to you as “Drunkle.”

Check out the grand opening of what may well become your new favorite place, District: American Kitchen and Wine Bar. From 6 to 10 p.m. (coinciding with First Friday), this soon-to-be-downtown-staple, attached to the spanking-new Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel, will throw a rockin’ party featuring the sounds of local band Try Me Bicycle as folks nibble food and sip stellar wine selections. The event also offers an opportunity to snag some chat time with artists from Paulina Miller Gallery, whose work will rotate on the restaurant walls.

Fri., Oct. 3, 6-10 p.m., 2008
