Nothing suits the end of a long day quite like a glass of boozy liquid that comes standard with salt, a lime, and a straw.
Yeah, we’re big on margaritas. And at the end of today, you’ll likely find us saddled up to one of the bars in town hosting special celebrations (we’re talking $2.50 margaritas at Distrito) and dishing out sweet and salty discounts.
Check out 10 of our favorite local margaritas in today’s round-up on Chow Bella, and the recipe for Gallo Blanco’s sweet-and-sour take on the classic pick-me-up after the jump …
A Sueno Mojado at Gallo Blanco
Ingredients: 2 oz. El Jimador Blanco Tequila 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier to float Fresh margarita mix (recipe below)
Fresh margarita mix is really what makes this cocktail shine and it’s easier to make than you may think. Step one: go on a citrus raid of your neighborhood and collect several oranges, lemons and limes (or skip the delinquency and buy them).
Method: 1. Juice a couple of each type and add sweetener to taste (agave nectar anyone?). 2. Add the tequila and margarita mix to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. 3. Shake vigorously and pour the entire icy contents into a salt rimmed glass garnished with a lime wedge. 4. Float the Grand Marnier atop your fresh margarita and embrace this sweet and salty dream of a margarita.
Happy National Margarita Day!
