When Phoenix Design Week kicks off on Monday, September 24, there are plenty of ways to get in on the design-centric fun — whether it’s your life’s work or you’re simply an avid admirer of desirable design. To aid in your choosing process (you have plenty of options), we picked three must-attend events that’ll provide different insights into the design world.

Unfinished Spaces Screening @ FilmBar
Alysa Nahmias and Benjamin Murray’s documentary Unfinished Spaces looks at Cuba’s National Art Schools, an ambitious architectural endeavor designed in 1961 by a trio of architects appointed by Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. As the country’s revolution continued, the project was neglected and left unfinished.

The second edition of the cycle poster exhibition that fuses design, arts, bikes, and community opens at Kitchen Sink Studios on Friday, September 28, at 6 p.m..

The event includes a talk at 8 p.m. from cycling advocate and author Grant Petersen, who will also sign his book Just Ride, and a group ride to downtown hangouts. Admission and participation are free.

Creative Mornings PHX @ TBA
No, TBA is not some cool new hangout. We’ve got our ears perked for more deets on our city’s first-ever Creative Mornings event, which will take place on Friday, September 28, at a yet-unannounced location and a yet-unannounced time. Creative Mornings includes a 20-minute lecture and breakfast. Admission to the event is free. It will continue on a monthly basis after the kick-off. Keep tabs on the event through CMPhx’s Twitter (@Phoenix_CM) for updates.
