John Avedisian has led a rich life. A life brimming with the fine art he is known for painting, and a life filled with the three themes of his new show, “Wine, Women, and Song” — on view through Friday, August 29, at the Alwun House.

“In all of my work I constantly search for the commonalities that link us together,” Avedisian writes in an artist’s statement. “I want to transcend the boundaries of language, culture, geography, gender, and even time. My search for this common ground led to ‘Wine, Women, and Song,’ which is a combination of three past series’ that have been re-worked into one hybrid.”

An artist’s reception, featuring live music from blues vocalist and harmonica player Walkin’ Cane Mark will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Third Friday, August 15, at 1204 East Roosevelt Street. The event is free. Call 602-253-7887 or visit www.alwunhouse.org for more information.

Fri., Aug. 1, 7-10 p.m.; Tuesdays-Fridays, 12-6 p.m.; Fri., Aug. 15, 7-10 p.m. Starts: Aug. 1. Continues through Aug. 29, 2014
