Lexington Hotel’s The Poolside Gallery1100 North Central AvenueSeizing upon the zeitgeist of this weekend, the monthly Places, Spaces & Faces community discussion and dinner will adopt an “End of the World” theme. Attendees are asked to bring either and appetizer, side dish, or entrée (based upon which month they were born) consisting of something they’d like to nosh on during “The Last Supper.” Painters Jenny Ignaszewski and Kyle Jordre, both of whom are currently featured in the Poolside Gallery, will also discuss their works. The event starts at 6 p.m. and organizers promise they will “keep an eye out” for any asteroids or earthquakes.

Local pop musician (and former New Times contributor) Serene Dominic will bring his weirdo rock band The Mutant Beatles Experiment to the downtown drinkery for the “Rapture Begins Now! Stand In Judgment!” show beginning at 10 p.m. Specials on craft beers and microbrews and a late night DJ session are also promised.
The Duce

Better look busy if you attend Scandalesque’s End of Day cabaret, since Jesus will be coming to The Duce. Okay, it won’t be the bonafide J.C., but rather a look-alike. Singing, dancing, stripteases, comedy acts, and burlesque vignettes are also on tap for the event. Doors open at 8 p.m. and admission is $25. An After-Life after-party will follow at 11 p.m.

Atheists from around the Valley will be gathering at the popular Tempe neighborhood bar on Sunday afternoon to crack jokes at Harold Camping’s expense and enjoy happy hour specials on well drinks, house wines, and domestic beers. They’ll also be seeing “who’s been naughty or nice” amongst them and who was rejected from the after-life by “bureaucratic glitches at the Pearly Gates.”
