Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Drew Carey, apparent time traveler, visits our epoch sporting a soul patch and performing sketch comedy that makes people remember when Saturday Night Live was good. We’re grateful — and we’re okay with having missed the part where he appeared crouching nude in the middle of Jackson Street during an electrical storm, hottie though he is.
Carey might have picked up the technology while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Then again, he adores soccer, learned stand-up out of library books, hosts a TV show about guessing what soup and appliances cost, and holds an L.A. Press Club award for a feature on medical marijuana, so maybe he’s just a space alien (who conveniently claims to be a Libertarian).
The Cleveland native will perform a solo set followed by sketches with Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre regulars The Midnight Show team Friday, June 22, and return the following evening.
Fri., June 22, 8 p.m.; Sat., June 23, 7 & 9:45 p.m., 2012
