Classic ballet can get a bit dull. But contemporary companies like New York-based Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet have proved the future of the art is anything but. Blending athletic movement with world-class choreography, Cedar Lake pushes the possibilities of movement, sans pointe shoes.
The company boasts one of the most diverse repertoires in the dance world and will bring award-wining Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman’s new work, Tuplet, to the Valley. The company’s Scottsdale première will also include Hofesh Shechter’s Violet Kid, a dark but eye-catching piece, and Crystal Pite’s Grace Engine, a thrilling work full of tension.
