Racist depictions are invading university towns all over the country, and that’s a good thing. That’s because the Tunnel of Oppression, a traveling installation that opens eyes with stark visuals that knock you upside the noggin, was sculpted “to challenge people’s ideas and perceptions of issues dealing with oppression.” The installation has traveled to schools across the country – such as Penn State University and University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire – and includes a tunnel-like design complete with videos, hanging wall pieces, and sonic touches.
Rhe ASU downtown campus gets its turn when the A.E. England Gallery at Downtown Civic Space Park hosts the “How Media Is Overly Sexualized” exhibit. Tours leave every 15 minutes from 6 to 8 p.m.
