The video above doesn’t leave much room for explanation, other than wakeskating looks like it might be the coolest sport to hit the lake since it got a little too cold for beer bongs and wet T-shirt contests.
The water sport’s an adaptation of wakeboarding and skateboarding that uses a board made from maple or fiberglass. The rider’s not bound to the board, so he or she can pull off some pretty sweet tricks — all while decked out in skate gear and shoes, for effect.
Wakeskaters Grant Roberts, Matt Manzari, Reed Hansen, Dieter Humpsch, Chris Kallas, Brian Grubb, Nick Taylor, Brandon Thomas, and George Daniels describe NOISIA VISION (previewed above) as a “a film dedicated to wakeskating dedicated to filming.” It’s set to release in December 2011.
