$15,000

We’re only six weeks into 2012, and already it’s shaping up to be a pretty weird year — even without all that hooey about end times and the Mayan calendar. Strange phenomena are cropping up everywhere, whether it’s the biggest solar flare in years blasting our planet’s atmosphere or the enormous increase in UFO sightings (including a glowing orb that hovered over Mesa last month).

Expect such subjects to be discussed exhaustively during the annual International UFO Congress, where hundreds of conspiracy theorists, flying saucer fanatics, and wanna-be Mulder and Scully types will gather at the Fort McDowell Casino to determine if the truth is indeed out there. The massive extraterrestrial extravaganza blasts off on Wednesday, February 22, and offers four days of guest speakers (including Communion author Whitley Strieber and general Ricardo Bermúdez of Chile’s UFO Agency), plenty of panels concerning the existence of little green men, and an EBE film festival. Tinfoil hats are optional.
