Ludwig van Beethoven’s work is pretty dramatic. Just think of the emotional response triggered by arrangements like “Moonlight Sonata” or the Fifth Symphony. But not all of his work is brooding or plays out like the soundtrack to a great battle. In fact, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is full of levity and whimsy. The rapid-fire carefree melodies have been dubbed “the apotheosis of the dance,” meaning the music is godlike. Arizona Pro Arte shares the moniker for the debut of its dance ensemble in a performance of Beethoven’s Seventh backed by a full orchestra. Aharon Harlap and Michael-Thomas Fourmai, winners of the orchestra’s Call for Scores competition, will also perform original pieces.
