Blabbing about your Lenten abstinence of choice might make you a humble braggart, but we heartily endorse letting the tweets and status updates fly with details of all the peccadilloes you pack in pre-Ash Wednesday. Downtown Phoenix Mardi Gras will spur just that by starting the Fat Tuesday partying early on Saturday, February 18.
The all-day fest will be awash with food and drink from CityScape’s resident bars and restaurants, visiting food vendors, and a beer garden. At 2:30 p.m., the entertainment stage comes alive with the Anaya Tribal Dancers and Walt Richardson. A parade kicks off at 5:30 with the joyous bluster of the Bad Cactus Brass Band, while the trolley-assisted pub crawl keeps the good times rolling until the wee morning hours.
Sat., Feb. 18, 2:30 p.m., 2012
