Believe it or not, the holiday season is upon us. And while it might be a stretch to knit yourself a Halloween costume in time for this year, it might be just the right time to get cracking on that ugly Christmas sweater for those December parties.
Whether you’re a novice knitter or the yarn whisperer, every fourth Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. Practical Art, a space for locally made gifts and art, invites you to attend Open Knit.

At Open Knit you can swap stories with other “fiber artists,” get tips and inspiration for new projects, or get motivated to finish old ones (you know, the ones you started three years ago).
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
So pick up some knitting needles, get yourself some brightly colored yarn, and put a handmade spin on your holiday gifts this year.
Please note, you do need to bring your own materials — they’re not made of money, people. Check out the Practical Art event page for more details or to share with your craft-savvy friends.
