The drive-in movie is a quickly dwindling pastime in Arizona.

Since the early 40’s, Arizona has seen the openings and closings of nearly 50 outdoor theaters, including the Rodeo Drive-In and the DeAnza Drive-In. Today, only two remain in operation, the West Wind Glendale 9 Drive-In and the Apache Drive-In in Globe.

A California-based company called West Wind owns the Glendale 9 drive-in and used to own and operate the Scottsdale 6 drive-in. The Scottsdale location closed when West Wind was unable to reach a lease agreement with the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which owns the land.
