Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Each week, Jackalope Ranch brings you a free event, workshop, or you-name-it happening in Phoenix. Because sometimes the best things in life really are free. This week’s freebie: Yarnball at Lawn Gnome Publishing.
Thanks to internet trolls, identity theft, and an unexplained dent in your car door, it’s pretty easy to form a negative opinion of the human race. Fortunately there are still those small acts of kinds to remind us that society is not entirely doomed: the opening of a door, the retrieval of a lost pet, and this week’s open mic at Lawn Gnome Publishing.

Every Wednesday from 8 to 10 p.m., Lawn Gnome Publishing hosts Yarnball, a free all-ages storytelling event highlighted by weekly themes- this week’s theme: The Kindness of Strangers.
Hosted by Phoenix comic, Dan Hull, the event features 5- to 8-minute acts from local storytellers telling their tales in the first-person. Interested performers can sign up by visiting the Lawn Gnome Publishing event page on Facebook or by contacting them at 602-753-8920, and interested listeners can simply show up (the show is always free).
