The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
Valley art lovers can expect a cool time — weather notwithstanding — when the Scottsdale Gallery Association presents its 24th annual Summer Spectacular Artwalk this week. A creative way to beat the heat, the event includes exhibition openings, painting demonstrations, and musical street performances.
Wilde Meyer Gallery presents “The Local Scene,” featuring live art by local painter Andrea Peterson. Calvin Charles Gallery hosts its own demonstration, with nationally known artist Stephanie Paige. The painting begins at 5 p.m., leading up to a special showing of her new piece, “Majestic Sun.”
Galleries like the Bonner David Gallery take full advantage of the summer-themed evening, pairing its “Life’s a Beach” reception with tropical drinks. On the Edge Art Gallery offers an array of mini styrofoam coolers, each painted by a gallery artist and given away during the evening.
Take a walk (and look) around from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11, in the Scottsdale Arts District, located just west of Scottsdale Road along Main Street and Marshall Way. Admission is free. Call 480-377-9366 or visit scottsdalegalleries.com.
