It doesn’t take a lot to impress us when it comes to cocktail-mixing skills. We’re still figuring out how to make a consistently decent Jack and Coke. But for those looking to truly master the malts, mixologist Matt Tobey has some things to show you.
On Thursday, July 18, Tobey will teach guests how to taste, make, and mix up a duo of drinks. Those who may have only dabbled in the world of whiskey can master the art when Tobey introduces his recently debuted Arizona Hickory Smoked Old Fashioned during his Malt Master Mixology class. In addition to learning how to make the drink, attendees will get to sample its hickory smoked Woodford Reserve bourbon and hear tasting notes. For the second round of drinks, he’ll offer a simpler beverage with a different whiskey or bourbon to compare to the first.
The class will be at District American Kitchen and Wine Bar, 320 North Third Street, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission per person costs $10 and includes complimentary appetizers. For more information, cal 602-817-5400 or visit www.facebook.com/events/357543657682001.
