Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
God, are we sick to friggin’ death of watching celebs and regular schmoes tip the scales on reality weight-loss shows like The Biggest Loser and DietTribe. This is America, land of the lard-ass and the free, and our national verve seems to be going the way of our fatty acids. The wrong way.
If you’re looking for a reality show that’s as American as a snout full of Frank’s RedHot, check out Native New Yorker’s Battle of the Bone 2009, a weekly amateur chicken-wing-consuming contest in which contestants vie to see who can gnaw the most wing meat in “10 minutes and 60 seconds.” (Now that’s America, right down to the beetle-browed math. Beautiful!)
This week’s butterball qualifier starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Native New Yorker’s Avondale affiliate.
