On the dusty isle of Al Futaisi in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan commissioned a two-mile hole in the shape of his name, in capital letters.

The 63-year-old billionaire is known for extravagance — evidently his name on the island’s golf course and resorts, as well as more than 200 cars wasn’t cutting it.
