Local fans of All Elite Wrestling won’t have to wait long for the company to return to the Valley.

On Wednesday, the Florida-based wrestling promotion announced it will bring its “Double or Nothing” pay-per-view to Desert Diamond Arena on May 25.

The news broke just hours before AEW's flagship shows, “Dynamite” and “Collision,” are set to be broadcast from Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix.

“Double or Nothing,” which debuted in 2019, is AEW’s original pay-per-view event and previously took place each May in Las Vegas.

AEW’s history in Phoenix

AEW, founded in 2019 as an alternative to WWE, has been bringing events to metro Phoenix since 2023, including broadcasting two episodes of “Dynamite” from Footprint Center. “Double or Nothing” will mark the company’s fourth visit to the Phoenix area.

Tony Khan, AEW’s co-owner and CEO, told Phoenix New Times in 2023 that he considers the Valley a “great town for pro wrestling.”

He also noted that the Phoenix area was being considered to host an AEW pay-per-view event, because of “the great support for our TV” local wrestling fans have offered.

“It's certainly possible that we'd consider bringing some of our biggest events in the future to Phoenix,” Khan told New Times.

Two years later, Khan made good on his statement.
