Local “Star Trek” fans just got two big reasons to boldly go to Phoenix Fan Fusion 2025.
Event organizers Square Egg Entertainment announced on Wednesday actors Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” will appear at the annual pop-culture convention from June 6 to 8 in downtown Phoenix.
Make it so.
Frakes and Spiner are best known for their respective roles as Commander William T. Riker and the “fully functional” android Lieutenant Commander Data on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and its various spinoff shows and films.
They join a growing list of celebrity guests set to appear at Fan Fusion 2025. Previously announced names include “Hellboy” star Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal from “Futurama,” director and geek icon Kevin Smith, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels, Emily Swallow from “The Mandalorian" and "Hazbin Hotel" voice actors Alex Brightman and Amir Talai.
This marks the second time Frakes and Spiner have attended the annual event, as they respectively appeared in 2010 and 2012 — back when it was known as Phoenix Comicon.
Spiner’s last visit to the con was particularly memorable, as he reunited with fellow “Next Generation” stars Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis and Wil Wheaton in honor of the show’s 25th anniversary.
Frakes and Spiner will both sign autographs and pose for photos during all three days of Fan Fusion. While Square Egg hasn’t revealed full details of their appearance, Frakes will charge $50 for a selfie at this table, $60 to sign something, $70 for a posed photo and $100 for a photo/autograph combo.
Hope you have some gold-pressed latinum saved up.
They’re also expected to participate in a Q&A panel at Fan Fusion, where they’ll answer questions from local Trekkers and share behind-the-scenes stories.
Who knows? Frakes might even break out a trombone, just like he did on "The Next Generation" and at various geek conventions.
