Every girl has her closet staples: a little black dress, a chambray shirt, a pencil skirt, and, for many of us, a Lauren clutch from Hobo. Over the past decade, the iconic go-anywhere wallet has become Hobo's top selling item, and incidentally a customer favorite at Phoenix's Bunky Boutique. Which is why the local retailer has decided to commemorate the Lauren's 10th anniversary, with a special in-store birthday party on Sunday, April 13.
But before they kick off the festivities this weekend, we talked with Hobo's chief visionary officer, Koren Ray, to find out how this fashionable clutch became a fashionable crutch.
What was your inspiration for the Lauren design?
I am inspired by real women everyday; how they dress, how they juggle life. I wanted to design the perfect wallet for the multi-tasking woman; one that holds all of her essentials for those busy days AND looks stylish and cool as a clutch at night. Contemporary, yet feminine, Lauren helps today's busy women stay organized without sacrificing style.
Why do you think the Lauren has become such a classic?
Large enough to use as a clutch and small enough to use as a wallet, the Lauren is perfect for every busy lifestyle. Although designed ten years ago, the true testament to Lauren's longevity is how well she has adapted to our modern mobile world. She fits a cell phone perfectly and still has plenty of room for essentials. The combination of quality leather, classic style and purposeful details make Lauren the perfect clutch-wallet for every woman.
How did the Lauren get its name?
Since I believe that "cool is when vintage meets modern", Lauren's name was inspired by my favorite movie star from a glamorous, bygone era. Can you guess who?
The Lauren Hobo Wall Birthday Party at Bunky Boutique will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 12.
