Coyote Ugly

Want to become relevant in an oversaturated and distressing sports market? Win. Some. Freaking. Games. Already.

You can say what you want about the decision makers in the Phoenix Coyotes front office, but the team’s struggle to be recognized and revered will eternally be an obstacle until the hockey club starts hosting playoff whiteouts a bit more frequently. So is this the year that the ‘yotes finally end their embarrassing six season postseason drought? Hmm, maybe, especially if goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov lives up to his potential and stickmen like second-year forward Peter Mueller continue to drop hat tricks on fools like he’s done this preseason.

On Saturday, October 11, the Coyotes open their 2008-09 regular season against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sat., Oct. 11, 7 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 20, 7 p.m., 2008
