Harkins Theatres recently announced that it will invest $150 million to upgrade its movie theaters nationwide.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Harkins is the largest family-owned theater chain in the country, with more than 500 screens. And this multimillion-dollar makeover will introduce new "state-of-the-art amenities" to each theater.

Additions include reclinable lounge seating, lobby bars and lounges, mobile ticketing, and bigger auditoriums with curved screens.

"Reinvestment in our theatres with these new amenities is an effort to show our gratitude to our loyal guests and ensure that we always deliver on our promise,” says Harkins president and CEO Mike Bowers in a press release.

Phoenix-area theater locations will continue operating as usual while the upgrades are completed. Harkins Scottsdale 101 was the first theater in the Valley to unveil its remodeled look back in September. The Chandler 20 and Arrowhead 18 locations are expected to complete the remodeling process soon.

Details on specific theater remodels will be available as construction begins on each location.

Here's a rundown of some of the new amenities coming soon:

• Harkins Ultimate Lounger seats
• Reserved theater seating
• CINÉ1™ extra-large premier auditoriums, gold waterfall drapes, Dolby Atmos® object-based 3D sound, and laser projection systems
• In-lobby bars/lounges
• Upgraded lobby finishes and decor
