“KPop Demon Hunters” fans of Arizona rejoice. Harkins Theatres has announced it will show a special sing-along version of the phenomenally popular Netflix animated film later this month at all 25 of its locations in the state.
Better start warming up your singing voices so you can hit the high notes on “Golden” and other songs.
“KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event,” a special edition of the hit film, will screen at every Harkins Theatres location in Arizona on Saturday, Aug. 23 and Sunday, Aug. 24.
Tickets are on sale now through the Harkins website.
For those of you who’ve been living under a rock, “KPop Demon Hunters” is the hit Netflix animated musical film concerning Huntrix, an all-female pop trio who split their time between topping charts, battling creatures from the underworld and facing off against the Saja Boys, a boy band whose members happen to be demons in disguise.
It’s sort of like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” meets “Jem and the Holograms,” albeit with a K-pop twist.
Since premiering in June, the film has been an absolute juggernaut on Netflix, racking up more than 158 million views and becoming the streaming service’s most-watched original animated film ever. The K-pop-laden soundtrack has also been a monster (pun very much intended), charting in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 while the song “Golden” has also become a number one hit.
And during “KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event,” moviegoers are encouraged to belt out any of the film’s songs along with the members of Huntrix and the Saja Boys. A dozen or so songs make up the hit soundtrack, including bangers like "Takedown," "Your Idol," "Love, Maybe," "Soda Pop" and the aforementioned "Golden."
Multiple screenings of “KPop Demon Hunters: A Sing-Along Event” will take place at Harkins Theatres locations on Aug. 23 and 24. More information is available on the Harkins website.
