If idle hands are the devil's tools, Allison Karow has nothing to worry about.
As if getting her phalanges dirty while keeping Tempe bike co-operative Bike Saviours (which she help to found) going wasn't enough, Karow manages to create in as many ways possible, evident by her solo exhibit.
Karows advocacy for bicycles as a fun, sustainable, and socially progressive mode of transportation has nearly become an art itself. Her works in drawings, paintings, mixed media, found objects, and fibers become vivid intersections of ideas, and her images are as complex as any mechanical object one might put together by hand. (Our current favorite in the show is a wreath made from the recovered heads of plush toy animals.)
