Rossitza Todorova Joins Phoenix Art Museum

Tempe artist Rossitza Todorova recently joined the Phoenix Art Museum as its Major and Planned Giving Officer. She’s now responsible for growing the museum’s individual and planned giving programs, and will focus on developing gifts at or above $25,000.

Previously, Todorova spent more than three years with ASU Art Museum, managing individual giving and memberships as Development Coordinator. But her career in arts administration began nearly two decades ago, and has included serving in multiple positions at the Nevada Arts Council.

Born in Bulgaria in 1981, Todorova immigrated to the U.S. as a child. She earned her bachelor of fine arts degree at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2005. In 2013, she graduated from ASU with a master of fine arts degree in painting and drawing. Todorova currently teaches at ASU School of Art, and says she plans to continue doing so.

But she also has a thriving art practice.

In 2015, Todorova was one of several Arizona artists who received a Phoenix Art Museum Contemporary Forum Artist Grant, then had work exhibited at the museum. Recently her work has been exhibited at Modified Arts, Fine Art Complex 1101, and New City Studio.

In March, Todorova’s work was featured in the Roda-Viva performance presented by [nueBOX] at Mesa Arts Center. Now, she’s busy creating work for a solo exhibition opening in February 2018 in Nevada.

“In my dreams,” she says, “my new responsibilities won’t hinder my art practice."
