Matthew joined Phoenix New Times as an intern in August 2025. Before that, he contributed to national investigations at the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism and served as a fact-checker with the Poynter Institute. He is pursuing a degree at Arizona State University, studying at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions.
