Sam Eifling

Sam Eifling has been the editor-in-chief of Phoenix New Times since January 2025. From 2003-2006 he worked as a staff writer for New Times Broward-Palm Beach, where his stories won state and national awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. He left to report and produce for such outlets as ESPN, Harper’s Magazine, the New York Times, the CBC, Sports Illustrated, the Associated Press, and the Netflix show Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. In 2024, Sam and two fellow New Times alums released Hold Fast: The Unadulterated Story of the World’s Most Scandalous Website, an audio documentary. He has a bachelor’s in journalism from Northwestern University and a master’s in journalism from the University of British Columbia.
