Some people assume that actors are good at lying in real life. Whether or not that’s so, you can tell an actor’s snowing you if he claims to have played the title role in the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Harvey. That’s because in the play, Harvey is an imaginary (or maybe just invisible) rabbit who stands six feet, three and one-half inches tall.
You might conclude that, in any case, it’s very difficult to represent an invisible character on stage, but despite the challenges, Harvey is among the most-produced scripts ever, and the 1950 film, starring James Stewart as Harvey’s friend Elwood P. Dowd, is a perennial favorite. Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre presents the hare-raising comedy at 4720 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale. The show continues through Sunday, January 11, 2015.
