This year, the summer is far from a quite time for the Metro Phoenix restaurant scene. The openings keep on coming with four new spots including a Biltmore outpost of a popular Scottsdale restaurant and bar, a new doughnut shop in Arcadia, another deep dish pizza option, and a mysteriously named “900-degree” restaurant on Shea Boulevard.

The Best Thing I Ate This Week: Crazy Fruit Tea

So-called ‘crazy fruit tea,’ a delicate, iced jasmine tea served in an extra-large cup stuffed with fresh slices of pineapple, orange, kiwi, strawberry, and whatever else they have on hand fruit-wise, is worth the drive to Boba Tree in Mesa.

June brought more shuffling around in the Metro Phoenix restaurant scene, with half a dozen closings and nearly 20 openings. We were thrilled to see new outposts of favorites like The Vig and Carolina’s, and devastated to bid farewell to innovative dining venues like Posh Restaurant, but perhaps most surprising of all, was the restaurant that closed before it even opened its doors.
