A new place to get frozen treats is always welcome this time of year. There’s a “coming soon” sign up for an ice cream spot called 32 Degrees in the Arcadia Town Center at 4730 E. Indian School Rd.
But according to the building permit issued by the city’s Development Services Department, the applicant is listed as Sub Zero Ice Cream, a Utah-based company that has eight locations in Utah and Idaho. I contacted founder Jerry Hancock to inquire about the Indian School location, and he told me, “They probably aren’t coming soon, because we’re getting an injunction to close them within the next week.”
Hancock says he had been affiliated with the folks behind the Indian School store until they broke their agreement and stopped communicating three months ago.
However, there is a debut Arizona location of Sub Zero Ice Cream in the works for Mesa, opening within the month. More details to come.
