Mi Comida Restaurante Latino owner Rosa Rosas confirmed on Wednesday that she and her husband decided to close their well-loved Latin restaurant (formerly called Mi Cocina Mi Pais) after 20 years in business.

The Ecuadorian restaurant on Bell Road in Phoenix served Latin cuisine with influences from all over South America, including Bolivia, Venezuela, and Peru. The small restaurant was considered a hidden gem in the Valley food scene and was featured in Sunset Magazine in 2013

Popular dishes included traditional Mexican and Ecuadorian tamales, empanadas, ceviche, and chicha morada, a fruity Incan beverage.

Rosas says she thanks all the restaurant’s customers for a successful run — adding that she wouldn’t rule out a new food venture in the future.
