Bad news for fans of fried chicken served in a waffle cone: Jorge’s Chicken and Waffles has shuttered after less than a year.
The Tempe restaurant, which opened in early 2015, served fried chicken and waffles and Mexican food. The menu offered options ranging from carne asada tacos to a Belgian waffle — as well as a chicken and waffle cone that included strips of chicken stuffed into an ice cream cone. (And in case you’re wondering, it actually didn’t suck.)
On Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant was dark and a sign on the door says the restaurant is closed for “remodeling” but that customers can look forward to a grand opening “coming soon.” The restaurant’s phone has also been disconnected.
