Cupcakes, the food trend that, like your ex, keep coming back no matter how many times you’ve said it’s over, are in the Valley’s news scene once again — and this time, they’re arriving in the form of the nation’s biggest franchise.

Nashville-based Gigi’s Cupcakes, which has over 65 locations in 22 states, is making its first foray into the Valley with three locations in Phoenix, Ahwatukee, and North Scottsdale set to open this fall.

Founded by Gina “Gigi” Butler, who opened her first shop in Nashville in 2008, Gigi’s Cupcakes features over 30 varieties of cupcakes each week in flavors like banana cream pie, Merry Margarita, and a best-selling chocolate creation called Midnight Magic which Butler says will make folks, “Go out walking after midnight for…”

The Ahwatukee store, at 4910 East Ray Road, will be the first of the three Valley Gigi’s to open (with a planned date of the second week of September) followed by the North Scottsdale location at 15807 North Frank Lloyd Wright. Gigi’s Cupcakes in Phoenix, at 3925 East Camelback Road, has a planned opening date of Friday, October 5th.
