With what many — including folks around here — consider to be the best carne asada in the Valley, America’s Taco Shop has garnered quite the following. So much so that the order-at-the-counter Mexican food spot is opening a second location on 7th Ave. and Camelback Road the beginning of January.
Part of its draw, besides the meat, tasty lard-free beans and great specials (Tuesday’s mean four tacos for $6.75), are the all-around cheap prices.
No menu item costs more than $10, including quesadillas, tortas, burritos and tacos.
We love the extra-large bean burritos with cheese ($5.25). The beans and cheese mixture is always super-gooey, and the tortillas are perfectly crispy.
Pair it with a bowl of chips and salsa (which is big enough for two or three people and costs a measly $1.50), and a Mexican Coke ($3), and you’ve got a nice meal for little moolah.
Enjoy your food in the small dining room or the roomy patio.
¡Ole!
