Seeing that the sold-out round three of Locavore, Tapino’s successful AZ-centric wine dinner, takes place tonight and tomorrow (with 120 people each night), it’s probably a good time to announce the details of Locavore 4: Cultivation, which takes place October 7 and 8. Obviously reservations are essential.
The cool hook for this next go-round is that guests can join chef James Porter at a local farm on October 4 to hand-pick the fresh produce that will wind up in guests’ dinners.
Helping the chef harvest the ingredients for your meal? Seriously, that’s a really unusual opportunity — and by October, you know you’ll be a lot more eager to be outside.
As with all of these events, there will be a meet-and-greet with local farmers and producers before dinner, so you’ll have some food for thought and some interesting fodder for conversation with other like-minded guests.
The party starts at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30, at Tapino Kitchen & Wine Bar. $65 per person gets you five courses paired with wines. (The price is subject to change — and if anything, it will be reduced, so call the restaurant for the latest: 480-991-6887.)
